The original fucked my world up as a kid.
Can't really picture Jason Clarke as the broken father/husband in that story....
Jake Gyllenhaal would nail it.
Now, that's a good choice. In what will otherwise be a godawful train wreck of a remake.
The box office success of It was guaranteed to make other studios/producers give other King adaptions the greenlight.
Still no love for Lovecraft or Edgar Allen Poe... :/
If you are not already familiar with what happens in the novel or the 80's film adaptation I'm not sure how this trailer would effect you. Does it come off as just another modern horror movie?
For me the 80's film was disturbing as a young boy. But It's a nightmare for a me as an adult father. A goddamn nightmare.
Every beat in the trailer I know where it is going and it's horrible. The foreshadowing is so oppressive it feels like your drowning just below the surface. King tapped into evil when he wrote this. He reluctantly had it published and has since stated that he regrets it and that it's his darkest, bleakest work. I tend to agree.
That was all in the book. The sister, the kids, (I don't remember if they wore masks but they were just normal kids in the novel.)
Church doesn't look as fucked up as you would expect. He just looks like a stray here. Perhaps it will come out in the cats performance.
