They want to make a successful live-action adaptation but they're repeating the movie's mistakes and will possibly make it even worse...
Why do I get the feeling the stories in the animated series were not even considered when they decided to make this...
Yeah, they'll fuck up the beautiful simplicity of the original Æon Flux series and stick some politically correct (as of 2018/19) shit in there as well.
Just look at how Ghost In The Shell turned out.
PS: it's so cool to be able to use the letter Æ at an English speaking forum, otherwise only used in the Nordic countries.
Starts a studio, kicks off with three remakes.
Can't wait for the Invader Zim sitcom set in late 80s suburbs.
The episodes appear simple on the surface but there's a lot going on. And reading a few of the scripts you can see they're tight and polished while covering multiple themes. And most of the season 3 episodes lend themselves to feature length stories.
So perhaps simplicity is not what they should be aiming for but they should definitely be aiming for the same focus on the stories. It was a mistake not letting Peter Chung contribute to the live-action reboot as a writer. It was never a Good vs. Evil kind of show.
I feel like Jeff Davis must have very vague memories of The Purge and said, "Hmm, let's make Aeon part of a group of SEXY bio-hackers and they're all working to take down the EVIL Trevor Goodchild."
